On October 4, 2017, the STEM Bus rolled into the Ford Idaho Center ready to celebrate Manufacturing Day at the Made Here! Expo & Job Fair.

STEMbus at Manufacturing Day

You might be wondering, what is Manufacturing Day? Manufacturing Day is a national celebration of modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturers. This year, the Southwest Idaho Manufacturer's Alliance (SWI-MA), put on the Made Here! Expo & Job Fair hosting more than 50 manufacturing and industry related exhibitors. The goal of this event and Manufacturing Day is to celebrate manufacturing, as well as, combat the negative connotations that manufacturing environments are dark, dangerous places designed for low-skilled workers. The Made Here! Expo & Job Fair lets the community see what manufacturing is all about.

Manufacturing Day Keva Plank Challenge

The STEM Bus was proud to attend the Made Here! Expo & Job Fair because careers in manufacturing require skills and knowledge in what we’re most passionate about, STEM! We enjoyed sharing our passion with more than 750 community members, students, and other local youth at the event. Attendees got to experience more than 20 hands-on exhibits, including 3D printing, VR, and robotics while on the bus. One highlight of the day was capturing the photo featured to the left, where high school students and elementary students are simultaneously enjoying the challenge of building with Keva Planks. This photo captures something we truly believe at STEM Revolution; STEM is for everyone.

In addition to meeting attendees, STEM revolution had the opportunity to meet and learn from local manufacturing businesses. Custom Fluid Power, Slant Concepts, International Minute Press, and Micron Technology, were all present displaying their locally manufactured products. In addition we were among some of our STEM education partners in community, such as the PTech, Idaho FIRST Robotics,  Idaho STEM Action Center and Meridian Library District - unBound. We love being a part of a community that has so many STEM learning opportunities for its youth.

The STEM Bus can’t wait for the next Manufacturing Day!
