Boise, ID – STEMBus USA, an affiliate of STEM Revolution, was recently awarded a $30,000 grant from the Laura Moore Cunningham Foundation to continue its innovative mobile STEM lab program. The STEMBus is a 60-foot long former city transit bus that has been transformed into a mobile STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) bus that travels to schools to educate and inspire students to pursue careers in STEM. STEMBus also offers after school and summer camps that serve a similar purpose. This is the third consecutive year STEMBus has received a grant from the Laura Cunningham Moore Foundation.

“We are thrilled and honored to once again be awarded a grant from the Laura Moore Cunningham Foundation,” said Dr. Lorna Finman, Founder and President of STEMBus USA. “Like the Foundation, STEMBus USA has a deep commitment to the present and future of Idaho, particularly through our school children and their educational programming. We look forward to continuing our work in our home base in Idaho, and inspiring the engineers, computer programmers, and scientists of tomorrow.”

STEMBus USA is an affiliate of STEM Revolution, which provides a comprehensive, proven STEM program to schools, school districts, educators, and communities around the globe. STEMBus will use the grant to bring the program to more schools.

“Exposing students to high quality STEM education opportunities will help promote science and math careers for those students, helping both them and our community as a whole,” said Laura Bettis, director of the Laura Moore Cunningham Foundation.

For more than fifty years, the Foundation has supported institutions across Idaho. The Foundation has no staff, relying on the volunteer leadership of Harry Bettis and his daughters. Through family leadership and low costs, the Foundation maximizes the funds they provide throughout Idaho.
