Professional Development Workshop

Below is a list of our available workshops. These workshops have been designed to assist all teachers from all subject backgrounds and grade levels with practical STEM applications for their classrooms. Choose from this list to develop a professional development session that meets your needs. 

STEM EDUCATION TEACHER WORKSHOPS

  1. Getting Started in STEM - Level 1
    Level 1 is an engaging workshop that offers a clear understanding of STEM’s relevance, addressing common misconceptions and effective implementation strategies. The workshop focuses on practical methods, interactive activities, and lesson planning to boost problem-solving, creativity, and the real-world application of STEM.

  2. STEM Intermediate - Level 2
    Building upon the foundation set in Level 1, this intermediate workshop delves into Design Thinking, Growth Mindset, and the integration of STEM into daily lesson plans while promoting divergent thinking. Educators are encouraged to bring their own lesson plans, which will be transformed into mini-design thinking challenges.

  3. STEM Advanced - Level 3 - Fostering Culture of Creativity and Growth Mindset
    Level 3 is an advanced STEM workshop focused on creating a culture of creativity and innovation and a growth-oriented mindset in classrooms. Educators will be introduced to computational thinking and advanced AI usage in STEM lesson planning.

  4. Design Thinking Process and Divergent Thinking
    This workshop offers teachers an immersive experience in the design thinking process and learn to implement this method in STEM classes. Participants will engage in hands-on activities to experience the design thinking process, understand divergent versus convergent thinking, and develop skills in guiding student brainstorming and ideation.

  5. Innovating the Classroom: Integrating Entrepreneurship and Innovation into Teaching
    Participants will learn how to integrate entrepreneurship skills into teaching, contrasting traditional, 21st-century, and innovation & entrepreneurship (I&E) teaching approaches. This includes content and grade-specific examples and strategies for incorporating I&E into traditional lesson content.

  6. Empowering Educators: Navigating the Future with AI in the Classroom
    This workshop is designed to familiarize teachers with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its application in education. It offers a foundational understanding of AI’s workings, practical ways to incorporate AI into classroom settings. The culmination of the workshop involves creating AI-enabled lesson plans.

  7. Marine Underwater Robotics Sea Perch
    The “Marine Underwater Robotics with Sea Perch” teacher training workshop equips educators with the skills to build and implement Sea Perch underwater robots in their curriculum. Additionally, it delves into enhancing student learning by making marine science and robotics concepts engaging and accessible.

  8. Robotics in K-12 Education
    The workshop is a detailed training program designed to provide educators with an overview of various robotic programs available for K-12 students and cover how these programs align with educational standards and delve into the costs, types of equipment, and support required for successful implementation. Participants will actively engage in building different types of robots, gaining hands-on experience.

  9. The Physics of Flight in Aeronautics: Drones in Schools
    This is an innovative workshop designed to train teachers on integrating the ‘Drones in Schools’ program into their educational curriculum. Educators will learn how to utilize drones as a tool for engaging students in a variety of subjects, linking practical drone operations to theoretical concepts in the classroom.

  10. Teaching about Space in the classroom
    The workshop also explores the connection between academic content and space careers, encouraging educators to link curriculum topics to various roles in the space industry. A key strategy includes incorporating engaging space activities to enhance learning, with an added emphasis on integrating cutting-edge technology such as Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and educational games.

  11. Integrating Project-Based Learning in STEM Education
    This workshop delves into the intricacies of Project-Based Learning (PBL) within STEM subjects. The workshop provides an in-depth look at PBL planning elements, offering examples and a comprehensive planning guide.

  12. Transforming the Classroom through Innovative Integration of Technology
    The workshop is structured around the 5E Framework: Exchange, Enrich, Enhance, Extend, and Empower, providing educators with a robust model for integrating technology into their teaching practices. It includes a detailed overview of various resources and a wide range of applicable digital tools, from simple low cost applications to more advanced technologies like robotics, coding, Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and the Internet
    of Things (IoT).
